Parent / Coach Relationship
A positive parent/coach relationship is essential to a successful age group swimming program. The failure of parents and coaches to work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation will result in a less than worthwhile experience for the swimmer.
As parents, there will be occasions when you do not understand or you question what the coaches are doing. Please come to the coaches and ask questions – there are good reasons for the things that are done. The coaches are available after each practice for this purpose. It is essential that the resolving of questions, misunderstandings and differences be done without involving the swimmer. In order for the swimmer to derive the maximum benefit from the swim team program, they must feel respect and loyalty for the coaches and team. IF the swimmer becomes involved in the parent/coaches differences, their involvement in the program will suffer irreparable damage. It is also important for the parents to support team policies and procedures, and coaching decisions once they have been made.
